news: iModules’ green initiative

Introducing a new, improved, and greener iModules

This spring marked the kick-start of our green initiative here at iModules. So far, the progress has been exceptional. Here is a look at what we have been doing in our office to minimize iModules’ environmental footprint:

We’ve established a special Green Committee. The team is comprised of 12 iModules employees from various departments throughout the company, including development, sales, marketing, and client services. The committee is in charge of brainstorming, developing, and implementing strategies for becoming a more environmentally-friendly company.

By setting up multiple recycling bins in high-traffic areas, we have increased both employee awareness of our green initiative and the sheer volume of material that is recycled. The entire company is involved in the process, as responsibility for the recycling bins is rotated among departments.

“We have tried to make this a true company-wide effort. Everyone has done a great job keeping up with the bins, which I notice are becoming used increasingly more frequently,” says Green Committee member Mary Silverstein. After collecting the recycling, our aluminum cans are given to The Pet Connection, a local animal shelter, which uses the money from the cans to purchase food for its animals.

Recently, each iModules employee has been provided with a new company coffee mug. Cold drink cups for employees are on their way as well. In the past, we have used Styrofoam and plastic cups in the kitchen, but we intend to eliminate them completely once the transition to personal coffee mugs and cups is complete. Diane Fleer, another Green Committee member, is currently looking at purchasing biodegradable flatware. We hope to have a plastic-, Styrofoam-, and paper-free kitchen in the near future!

The iModules marketing team is doing its part to protect the environment by using 100% recycled paper for its print media. Marketing Coordinator Brenda Fraser recently ordered new training notepads and letterhead on recycled paper, and Beth Moore, our Art Director, has printed new iModules brochures on recycled paper as well.

As we continue in our efforts to “go green,” we hope that you are taking steps to minimize your organization’s environmental footprint as well.   Bates College

Last summer, Bates received a 99--the highest possible score--from the Princeton Review and ecoAmerica green rating system, a score shared only with 10 other colleges and universities from across the country.  Bates has been working for over a decade to contribute to and further explore the ways in which it can become more conscious of its carbon footprint and effect on the local ecosystem.  Read more.
